ABOUT ALAN

Joy and Passion are two words that describe Alan Yarbrough. His deepest desire is to bring glory to God through the gift of music, and be used to stir up the hearts of all people and encourage them to walk in an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ. Alan's favorite quote is, God is most glorified in us, when we are most satisfied in Him. From before he could talk he was already singing. Thankfully, he was blessed with an incredible musical family...so they spent many hours around the piano throughout his childhood. He followed his passion for music through high school and into college, where he studied music education. But even after graduating and beginning a career as a choral director, this classically trained musician never lost his calling to lead worship and use music to glorify God. In 2007 he answered the call to full time ministry in a leap of faith that led him from the Dallas/Fort Worth area back to his hometown in West Texas, where he leads worship for an amazing congregation at Calvary Baptist Church. He also travels and leads worship for camps, retreats, D-NOW weekends, and other various events. From his years leading worship and spiritual growth came more and more song writing. His style is a mixture of contemporary and traditional, from fast-paced calls to worship to sweet ballad-like hymns that reflect Alan's belief that the richness and truth of hymns still resonate with congregations today. Alan's goal in every song and service is to help point worshippers to see Gods glory, grace, and majesty! Alan lives in Andrews, Texas with his amazing wife Sara. They are also pregnant with their first child, a little girl named Payton Grace, due in February 2012!!

A NOTE FROM ALAN: I'm sure many of you are wondering what in the world YardBird means or why I chose to use YardBird Music... Well, to be honest with you...my last name is Yarbrough and throughout life I have been nicknamed "Yardbird" by a few folks...ALSO... It could mean something like...a "Yardbird" is a rooster and roosters call out for people to wake up....and, as a worship leader, I "call out" to all of us to wake up and start living our lives in full abandon to our Savior Jesus Christ...to wake up, stop conforming to the ways of this world and offer our lives as a living sacrifice to THE KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS!! I think I like the second reason better :-)WAKE UP, IT'S GO TIME!
